THE ADVOCATE. Leave it to the gays to be the first ones to really question the floundering of the message of “hope” that was so easily thrown around during campaign time. I must admit that I thought Obama would be a bit more hasty in his demand for the establishment of equal rights for all—whatever those rights may be. I have never been one to fall prey to campaign promises and I do not think “hope” has been abandoned in the wayside of wayward campaign rhetoric…yet. I will give President Obama a few more months before I really decide if he has abandoned an entire group of people that supported him almost entirely.
On another note, the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 passed (as did the NDAA, in which it was a part) on July 23rd. I thanked my senators. Did you?
